Hi! Sorry to bother you, but I was browsing your blog and I noticed you're a student at Studio 58. I'm considering a career in acting and although I probably wouldn't be pursuing that path until I finish my undergrad, I'd be interested in auditioning for Studio if I decide to go down that path. Are you liking it there so far? What was the audition process like? Are there a lot of older students in the program? Thanks! PS: I love your blog.
I think you should audition, whether or not you want to take the path or not. Going through an audition like the one Studio gives is a real learning experience. I am loving the program so far! It’s one of the greatest decisions I’ve made in my life. The auditions are different for Acting and Production students. I myself am in production so I had to prepare a monologue, create a set design, lighting design and cues, costumes, props, and I had to do research on the play we chose to do all of the above. Along with a character study on one of the characters, how they relate to myself, why I chose the play. I also was put together with the other people auditioning and we were put through different ice breakers and did a cold reading from the play “Little Sister” by Joan Macleod which was the play my term did for our finals. The average age I would say would be around 20-24, but there are a couple of students who are older than that.
Again, I think you should audition even if you think that you don’t want to go down this path. And thanks for the ask! I appreciate it :)
